Faye Yarnall

What do you do?
I provide strategic PR support, to assist the growth of a brand or company, with the level of focus, attention and ethos of an in-house PR.

Where are you located i.e. work from home or business premises?

I currently work from home based in Baslow, Derbyshire.

When did you start this role or business venture?

Faye PR was established in 2007 to offer a bespoke PR service to clients who want their brands to stand out and create a buzz on the pages that people read to ultimately increase awareness and raise their profile.

Why did you take up this role/business venture?

I have always been very ambitious and passionate about PR. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a First Class BA (Honours) degree in Public Relations. Throughout my degree I undertook various work placements at Galaxy 105, Square One Public Relations, Northern Profile Public Relations (now Golley Slater), The Get Real Marketing Company (Student Brand Manager for Lynx) to writing articles for the News Desk on the Derbyshire Times.

I started my career at Boots The Chemist where I worked in their Press Office on No7, 17, Liz Collinge cosmetics and Planet Diva. Following this I then moved to London and worked at the UK's No.1 Prestige Fragrance Distributor on exclusive campaigns for Hermès, La Prairie, Jean Paul Gaultier and Bvlgari. My career was then fast tracked and I began heading up the Beauty PR team at a leading lifestyle and consumer agency in Central London working on luxury brands, including House of Fraser Beauty, Victoria's Secret Beauty, Paris Hilton's first fragrance and New York's ‘Dr Lookgood'. My long term aim was to relocate back to the north to develop my own business. I relocated back to the north in 2007 and I now run a successful PR agency specialising in Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle PR, utilising my expertise and contacts. I work on PR campaigns for clients on both a national and regional level. I am also a member of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW UK) the leading organisation for women in the UK beauty industry - the UK Beauty Insiders.

How do you see your role/business venture developing during the next 12 months?

I want to establish Faye PR as the leading PR agency for Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle in the north. I also want to gain more local and national clients to promote their brands / business on a local, UK and International level.

What have been the highlights so far?

What have been the lowlights (if any)?

The current economic downturn.

What do you think makes Sheffield a good place for women in business?

Sheffield is a vibrant city with plenty of scope to grow your business and to gain new contacts through networking and specialist entrepreneur events aimed at women.

Finally, how do you switch off from your day job!?
